At snack time, there is nothing better than getting down to work and making your own preparation. On this occasion, we leave a recipe for squares of yerba mate and orange, ideal to accompany with the national infusion and share with friends or family.
-150 grams of butter.
-200 grams of common or impalpable sugar.
- 3 eggs
-200cc of milk
-3 or 4 tablespoons of yerba mate
- 300 grams of flour 4 zeros or leavening flour
-15 grams of baking powder
-A pinch of salt
-For the frosting:
-200 grams of powdered sugar
-Juice of one orange
Step by step how to prepare the squares of yerba mate and orange
First the butter must be at room temperature, it is beaten with the sugar. The shake can be done with an electric mixer (until the sugar dissolves and is integrated with the butter), it can also be beaten by hand.
To this preparation, add the zest of an orange, only the part of the color of the peel, and one by one add the eggs, which must also be at room temperature so that the creaming is not cut, and beat again for a couple of minutes until you get a cream.
On the other hand, put the milk on the fire with the yerba mate, heat it until it boils and let it rest for a few seconds. Then this preparation is strained.
Half of this infusion is placed in the mixture of butter with sugar and eggs and is beaten again. In addition, half of the dry products are added: flour and baking powder or leavening flour, and salt. With a spatula, all the ingredients are integrated in an enveloping way so as not to generate gluten, it should not be kneaded. Then the remaining half of the infusion and the dry products are added to the preparation, and the same procedure is done with the spatula.
The preparation is placed on a previously buttered and floured or greased baking sheet or with greaseproof paper. The oven must be preheated and the preparation will be cooked at 150 degrees for approximately 30 minutes.
Once removed from the oven and demolded, it is decorated with a glaze consisting of the mixture of powdered sugar and orange juice. This preparation is placed on the dough and that's it! the snack is ready.
